A Visual Journey Through Afghanistan’s Golden Era

About Us

Cool Kabul is an inspiring and ambitious coffee table book project. It is set to challenge prevailing stereotypes, offering a time capsule of a cosmopolitan and diverse Afghanistan that will inspire a deeper understanding of the country’s cultural legacy.

Through a rich collection of carefully curated photographs and personal stories, this book offers an intimate glimpse into the everyday lives of Afghans during the ‘30s through the ‘70s—a period marked by social freedom, cultural exchange, and a bustling urban scene.

A key goal of Cool Kabul is to preserve this precious and fading knowledge by capturing iconic images and the oral histories of Afghans who lived through these transformative years.

To bring this vision to life, we need your help.

Your support can ensure that these stories are not lost to history. By contributing to Cool Kabul, whether through a donation or by sharing your own historic photographs and recollections, you become a vital part of preserving this vibrant chapter of Afghanistan’s past.

The book will feature contributions from Afghan families and cultural figures, bringing this “golden era” to life. It will also highlight key historical moments, offering a broader context to this lesser-known era.

This collaboration between the U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Alliance for the Restoration of Cultural Heritage, and the Creative Marketing Agency, TriVision, is led by Afghan-American entrepreneur, Yama Jewayni.

We invite you to join us in this meaningful endeavour.
